Saturday night, I watched 32 years of history pass before my eyes. The 32nd Annual Silver Dollar Court Coronation, Around the World in 32 Reigns; A Night of Global Adventures. Watching the pioneers of our LGBT Community walk the catwalk made me realize how important the Silver Dollar Court is to our community. The Court is a non-profit organization that has been raising money for charities and other good causes for nearly three decades. These are the people who helped pave the way for our generation and generations to come.
The extravaganza took place in Harrah’s Main Ball Room, courts from New York to Los Angeles and everywhere in between came to pay homage to Empress XXXII Pandora and Emperor XXXII Gene. The support from the courts across the country was overwhelming. Looking fabulous the Glitterati mingled and sipped cocktails in their finest evening attire.
The Reno Police Department’s Color Guard started the ceremony and the first court to walk was Reno’s Silver Dollar Court, followed by other groups and organizations such as; A Rainbow Place, The Half Dollar Court, 5 Star Saloon and The 1099 Club. Soon after, followed the visiting courts of the various states. In the running for Emperor and Empress of the thirty-third reign where Daniel Surreal Foxx and Anna Duvet, which I want to give a big congratulations to for being crowned the Monarchs of the thirty-third reign! The performances of the evening were amazing! I had never seen Daniel perform before and his skills with a samurai sword astounded me and made his segment extremely memorable. My favorite of the “command performances” goes out to Dawna Creation, who gave a quite literally staggering performance, complete with 5 shots of what looked to be Jack Daniels and downing an entire glass of red wine. That girl can toss ‘em back! As always Anna Duvet looked amazing in a kimono, and my favorite was her dress made completely out of ties, fabulous! Divas On The Run also put on a wonderful set, with some of the best choreography I’ve seen for a Drag performance in Reno. Charity Case received the Fred C. Sipfle Community Service Award for her efforts in the Annual AIDS Benefit.
It was such a spectacular night; I look forward to next years Coronation. Congratulations to all who won awards on Saturday night for your involvement in making a difference in the community, and again I’d like to give big congratulations to our current reigning Emperor and Empress of the XXIII reign; Daniel Surreal Foxx and Anna Duvet! May they reign prosperous and carry on the ideals and morals of Monarchs before them!
